Why Wildcats Matters - A Visit from Holly Anthony

Updated: Jul 31

Meet Holly Anthony - a Sports Coaching graduate now studying for her master’s in Sports Management at Loughborough University. With experience coaching and a passion for women in football, Holly recently visited one of our Wildcats sessions to see how grassroots football is creating more chances for young girls across the Midlands. Having grown up as the only girl on her childhood football team, she wanted to gain a deeper understanding of how programmes like this are making a difference.

Check out the full video below to hear Holly’s story and what she thought of her visit.

Our Wildcats sessions provide a welcoming, girls-only space where young players can enjoy football in a supportive and inclusive environment. Aimed at ages 5 to 11, the sessions focus on building confidence, encouraging friendships, and helping girls develop a love for the game at their own pace. Led by Mansfield Town Community Trust’s experienced coaches, Wildcats is about more than just football, it’s about creating a positive first experience in sport that stays with them.
