Pupils and staff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Ollerton were treated to a truly unforgettable experience this week as the famous Emirates FA Cup trophy paid a special visit.
Organised by the Mansfield Town Community Trust, the visit gave pupils the chance to see one of football’s most iconic trophies up close, as excitement builds around Mansfield Town’s remarkable FA Cup journey. The special occasion brought together members of the club, the community, and the media, creating a fantastic atmosphere at the school.
Joining the Community Trust on the day were Mansfield Town Chairman John Radford and CEO Carolyn Radford, along with their family. Club Director and Community Trust Trustee Paul Brown was also present, helping to celebrate the club’s incredible FA Cup run with pupils and staff. Adding to the excitement, Mike Bushell from BBC Breakfast joined the visit, capturing the special moments as the famous trophy made its appearance.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for pupils to meet the guests, hear about the magic of the FA Cup, and take photos with the trophy itself. Headteacher Elspeth Wilkins-Campbell was also pictured with the trophy, marking the occasion as a memorable moment for the school community.
The Mansfield Town Community Trust, the official charity of the football club, works closely with local schools to use football as a tool to inspire young people and bring communities together. Events like this provide a unique opportunity for pupils to connect with the game and celebrate the achievements of their local club.
With the visit coming just days before a huge FA Cup fixture, attention now turns to the next challenge for Mansfield Town, who are set to take on Arsenal in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup this afternoon!
The Community Trust is also proud to be the charity partner for the matchday, using the occasion to help raise funds that support vital programmes across the local community.
