From Hibernian to Mansfield: Archie’s journey to see his footballing hero

For Archie, football has always been about more than just the game. It’s about the people who inspire you, the moments you remember and the connections that stay with you long after the final whistle.

Archie’s story with Nathan began at a Hibernian Easter training camp, where Nathan was a special guest. Playing in the same position, Nathan quickly became someone Archie looked up to, and a special connection began to form.

Whether it was a home or away fixture, Archie would always be hoping to catch a glimpse of Nathan, get a selfie, share a high-five or simply receive a wave. Those little moments meant the world to him, and the smile on Archie’s face said everything.

Their connection grew further when Archie took part in a mascot package for a Hibernian fixture against Rangers, walking out alongside his favourite player. At the end of that season, Nathan made the experience even more special by gifting Archie a signed shirt and a pair of signed boots. He even took the time to send Archie a video message wishing him a happy birthday.

So, when Archie heard that Nathan was moving to Mansfield Town, he was devastated to see his hero leave Hibernian. But that wasn't the end of the story.

Determined to continue supporting Nathan, Archie got himself a Mansfield Town shirt with Nathan’s name on the back. His support took him to Blackpool last season to watch the Stags, before travelling to St Andrews to watch the team during their pre-season training camp. And last week, Archie’s journey brought him to Mansfield once again.

Archie had the opportunity to visit the training ground and meet the players and staff during one of their training sessions, as well as a chance to catch up with Nathan. Archie was then surprised with a mascot experience package for the Mansfield Town vs Bromley fixture. Archie walked out with Nathan once again in front of the Stags faithful!

Reflecting on the experience, Archie’s family said:

“Archie had a fantastic weekend. Everyone made us feel so welcome and let Archie join in alongside the guys when they were out on the grass."

“I can’t thank the team and staff enough for the memories Archie now has to last a lifetime. Thank you so much for what you gave my son last weekend.”
