Yesterday, Thursday 7th May, we hosted the 12th annual Acorn Signs Trophy as part of our Premier League Primary Stars programme, with 20 schools from across the region taking part across three qualifying rounds to earn their place in the finals.
After progressing through their respective qualifiers, this year’s finalists were:
Wynndale Primary School
St Andrew’s C of E Primary School
Abbey Gates Primary School
King Edwin Primary School
The standard of football and effort on display throughout the day was excellent, with every team showing great determination and teamwork across all fixtures.
A special mention also goes to King Edwin, who arrived straight from a residential trip earlier that day. Despite feeling the effects of a long and tiring day, the team still gave their all and continued battling through every game, representing their school brilliantly throughout the afternoon.

While every team performed well, St Andrew’s stood out across the day with some excellent performances and a strong all-round team display. Their hard work and consistency paid off as they were crowned this year's Acorn Signs Trophy winners!
The players received individual trophies following their success, while the Acorn Signs Trophy itself will now move to St Andrew’s to be proudly displayed at the school until next year’s competition.
A huge thank you to all players, staff, schools, and supporters who attended and helped make the day memorable. And one final congratulations goes to every player and team involved, not only on finals day, but across every stage of this year’s competition.
