PE and Sport Premium Funding Confirmed for 2025/26

We’re delighted to share that the UK Government has officially confirmed the continuation of the Primary PE and Sport Premium for the 2025/26 academic year. This vital funding will allow schools across England to keep delivering high-quality PE, sport, and physical activity opportunities for all pupils.

The announcement – made on 11 June 2025 – has been welcomed by leading national organisations including the Youth Sport Trust, the Association for Physical Education (afPE), and other members of the National Sector Partners Group, all recognising the essential role this funding plays in supporting inclusive and sustainable PE provision.

Key information

  • Total funding: £320 million for 2025/26 – in line with previous years.

  • Payment schedule: Two instalments – one in Autumn 2025 and another in Spring 2026.

  • Eligible schools: All primary schools in England with pupils aged 5 to 11 will continue to receive funding.

What this means for schools

With funding guaranteed, schools can confidently plan for the year ahead and:

  • Continue to offer high-quality PE and physical activity, aiming for at least 2 hours of PE per week and 60 minutes of daily activity per pupil.

  • Invest in staff training (CPD), curriculum enrichment, and sustainable PE strategies.

  • Ensure accountability by submitting 2024/25 spending data through the DfE’s new digital reporting tool by 31 July 2025

This renewed commitment from the government helps ensure that every child has the opportunity to be active, develop physical literacy, and enjoy the lifelong benefits of sport and movement.

  • 96% of teachers feel that the programme has increased their pupils' demonstration of at least one key life value, with fairness, resilience and determination coming out top.

  • Over 80% of teachers said that the programme has had a positive impact on wider society.

What we can offer your School

With the continuation of PE and Sport Premium funding now confirmed, schools have a valuable opportunity to reflect on their current provision, set new priorities, and shape plans that drive lasting impact.
