Mental Health Awareness Week – Take Action

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Lee delivered a series of assemblies across local schools to support this year’s theme: Take Action, encouraging young people to think about the small, positive steps they can take to support their mental health and wellbeing.

A key part of the sessions included short video messages from Ryan Sweeney, Anthony Nunez and Deji Oshilaja, who shared how they take action to look after their own mental health — from staying active and talking openly, to finding time to rest and reset.

Lee Morris said:

“These assemblies have such a positive impact on hundreds of children, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of delivering them.”

On Thursday, assemblies were delivered across a number of settings, including Wings School, Salterford House School, St Mary's Church of England Primary School, Forest Town School, St Mary Magdalene Church of England School and Berry Hill Primary and Nursery School.

The Mental Health Foundation is the only UK charity solely focused on preventing poor mental health, and building and protecting good mental health. They believe everyone deserves good mental health, and that no one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from, or where they live.

Lee also took part wearing the Stags green goalkeeper kit to represent Mansfield Town throughout the day, showing support for the campaign and the importance of raising awareness within football and the wider community.

Lee added:

"It was fantastic to engage with pupils and staff across all schools, with meaningful conversations and strong engagement throughout.Mental health matters, and these conversations are an important step in helping young people feel supported, heard, and empowered to take action every day."
