For the third consecutive year, Mansfield Town Community Trust proudly visited Sutton Community Academy to take part in their World Book Day celebrations. This year’s event was made even more special with a visit from Mansfield Town Director and Trustee Paul Brown, alongside Stags players Owen Mason and Matthew Craig.
Throughout the visit, we engaged with students to highlight the importance of literacy, not only in education but also in the professional world, including within football. The Mansfield Town representatives shared insights into their career paths and discussed the various roles available in the football industry beyond playing on the pitch.
Students had the opportunity to interact with the players and staff, asking questions about their experiences and learning how literacy plays a crucial role in their day-to-day work. Whether reading tactics, analysing game reports, or communicating effectively within a team, literacy remains a fundamental skill in the sporting world.
In collaboration with the National Literacy Trust, each pupil received a free World Book Day book, encouraging them to continue their reading journey. The day was filled with engaging discussions, shared stories, and an inspiring look at how reading and writing impact careers in football.
Mansfield Town Community Trust remains committed to supporting literacy initiatives and looks forward to continuing its partnership with Sutton Community Academy for future events that inspire and educate young minds.
