Role: Teaching and Learning Apprentice Tutor (FULLY FUNDED BY US!)

Reports to: Head of Education

Contract: Full Time

Starting Salary: £18,000 per annum

Purpose:

Mansfield Town Community Trust’s Education programme has been running since September 2014 and the provision, which is funded by the LFE (League Football Education), has grown and developed since its inception.Within the Community Trust we are looking to further expand our Education department in order to support our increase in learners and the number of new programmes/pathways set to run from September 2024, including both Level 2 NCFE and Level 3 BTEC Sport Qualification pathways.

As our Teaching and Learning Apprentice Tutor you will be expected to complete a fully funded Level 5 Apprenticeship Qualification alongside of your weekly part-time hours of delivery. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by an external mentor, based within the organisation ‘Educationwise’, alongside the existing Education Department within the Trust. Upon completion, your delivery hours and internal responsibilities will increase.

Within the role, you will be expected to contribute to the delivery of our first-class education programme for learners enrolled on the BTEC and NCFE provisions. In the role you will be expected and able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities towards your learners and you will be able to plan and deliver creative resources across our programmes to support the academic development of the learners enrolled at the Sports College. You will also be expected to support the department with ideas for growth and contribute to the recruitment strategy of new learners for future cohorts.


Core Responsibilities:

As this role requires you to complete personal CPD tasks throughout the completion of the Level 5 Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship, you will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver education sessions to various cohorts for a total of 12 hours per week – the remainder of your time will be assigned to assessment tasks and/or completing apprenticeship work.

  • Report all safeguarding concerns and incidents to the Head of Education (HoEd) and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in a timely manner.

  • To ensure all deadlines/ requirements/ conditions are met to ensure the smooth running of the Education Programme, including those identified by the LFE.

  • Ensure marking deadlines are met to ensure smooth running of programmes.

  • To adhere to all policies/ procedures that are in place within the Community Trust. These will be available to access for the successful candidate to access.

  • To play a key role in the ongoing recruitment of learners onto our courses, liaising with the HoEd around this.

  • To be flexible when needed, in terms of working hours. This will include contributing to Learner/Parent Events, Career Fayres/External Opportunity Events, Recruitment Open Days and Results Days.

  • To use you and your department's best endeavours to ensure each learner obtains the best possible grades throughout their time on the programme.

  • To ensure all learners enrolled are able to achieve their target grades, as a minimum.

  • Act in professional manner when representing the Football Club, including activity on social media platforms.

  • To deal with all incidents and queries around the students, using the policies set out by Mansfield Town Community Trust and the Community Trust Sports College.

  • Lead the new intake of Year 12 learners as their direct port of call and ‘Tutor’.


Person Specification 

  • Ensure the BTEC/NCFE courses are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner; and to the best of you and your department's ability.

  • Support the delivery of Tutorials, in line with the vision set out by the HoEd and the LFE, for your designated year group/class.

  • Support the delivery on both the Level 2 NCFE and Level 3 BTEC qualifications, where applicable.

  • Participate in regular CPD events within Education, provided by the LFE and the Community Trust.

  • Ensure the safe handling of laptops and upholding of the internet usage policy.

Essential:

  • Commitment to the ethos of Mansfield Town Community Trust.

  • Commitment to completing your fully funded Level 5 Apprenticeship in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines set by the external Apprenticeship Provider.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • The ability to differentiate materials, to meet the different needs of learners.

  • An understanding of how to use assessment to inform planning for good teaching practice.

  • Confident in sensitively, but assertively, addressing under-performance within learner performance.

  • Good ability to develop and maintain effective relationships in the work-place.

  • Ability to listen and effectively communicate and negotiate with all audiences.

  • Ability to act quickly and sensitively under pressure.

  • Ability to manage own and others’ workloads appropriately.

  • Have a ‘can do’ positive approach: open and constructive, accepting of feedback and willing to learn.

  • Awareness of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities; willing to working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable: 

  • Some experience of teaching a sport related subject would be useful.

  • Evidence of appropriate on-going professional development.

  • Knowledge of the BTEC Level 3 curriculum in Sports Coaching & Development.

  • Knowledge of the NCFE Level 2 curriculum in Sports Coaching.

  • Consideration of Effective behaviour management strategies.

  • Vision for the development of the Curriculum area.

  • Full Driving Licence.
