Young Stags Secure 3–2 Victory at Debdale Sports Park

The Young Stags secured a 3–2 victory over Lincoln ‘B’ on Wednesday afternoon in the EFL CEFA Central League 5, extending their positive run of form.

All five goals came in an action-packed first half, with the Young Stags attacking with real purpose. Lisgo scored twice and Fottles added the third, giving the hosts the edge at the break.

Reflecting on the match, Head Coach Mark Lynk said:

“On reflection, it was very much a game of two halves. In the first half we attacked with purpose, created a number of chances and were largely comfortable, aside from a few mistakes that led to Lincoln’s two goals.”

The second half saw a change in momentum as Lincoln pushed hard for an equaliser, forcing the Young Stags to show their defensive resilience. The team were required to defend for long periods, with Corbett producing an excellent diving header save during a spell of sustained pressure.

Lynk added:

“The second half was a different contest altogether. Lincoln pushed strongly for an equaliser, which meant we had to adapt and deliver a more resilient performance. We were pegged back for large periods and had to do a significant amount of defending, but I felt we managed this phase of the game very well.”

It was also a great evening at the club’s new home, Debdale Sports Park, with a strong crowd in attendance showing their support for the team and helping to create a positive atmosphere.

Looking ahead, Lynk was pleased with the team’s progress:

“Overall, it has been a positive run for us, with three consecutive wins now on the board. We’re pleased with the momentum and hope to continue this form in the games ahead.”
