Yesterday, Friday 19th March 2026, we hosted the 11th annual John Radford Trophy Finals at the RH Academy. After three rounds of qualifiers and 25 schools competing over the past month, six teams progressed to the final to compete for the trophy, with last year’s winners being King Edwin Primary School.
The schools competing in this year’s final were:
Peafield Lane Academy
St. Andrew’s C of E Primary School
Greenwood Primary School
Woodborough Woods Foundation C of E Primary School
Morven Park Primary School
The Forest View Academy
The matches this year were closely contested throughout, with most games decided by just one or two goals. It was clear that every team gave their all, showing great effort, teamwork, and determination throughout the afternoon.
Gary Shaw, our Schools Lead and Tournament Organiser, said, "It’s great to see so many returning schools coming back and giving it another go this year. At this stage of the competition, you can see how close the teams are. There’s no standout, it's just six strong schools all playing good football. The level of teamwork and effort on display today has been brilliant to watch."
Heading into the final round of fixtures, it was still undecided. It came down to a final match between Woodborough Woods and St. Andrew’s, with the winner set to take the trophy. Woodborough Woods secured a 2-0 victory, earning enough points to be named this year’s winners.
It was very close at the top of the table, with St. Andrew’s and Morven Park both finishing just one point behind on 10 points, only separated by goal difference, showing just how competitive the finals were.
Congratulations to Woodborough Woods Foundation C of E Primary School, who now take the John Radford Trophy back to their school. Having previously lifted the trophy in 2023, this year’s victory marks another special achievement, with their name now set to appear on the trophy plaque for a second time. Each player also received an individual Premier League Primary Stars trophy to mark their achievement.
Thank you to all the teachers, coaches, and staff who supported their teams throughout the competition. We’d also like to thank the parents, families, and supporters who came along to cheer on the players and help create a great atmosphere on the day.
Well done again to all the teams involved, and congratulations again to Woodborough Woods on their achievement.
