In 2023, we renamed our KS1 football competition The Sean Lynk Memorial Trophy in loving memory of our dear friend and former colleague, Sean Lynk. Sean’s enthusiasm for football and his positive impact on those around him continue to inspire us all.
This year's finals brought together six fantastic schools: Abbey, Dalestorth, Crescent, King Edward, Croft, and Greenwood. Each team displayed brilliant skill, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm throughout the event, truly capturing the spirit of what made Sean’s love for football so special.
The competition was fierce and incredibly close. Heading into the final round of fixtures, four schools were still in contention to lift the trophy—an exciting testament to the quality and balance of the teams involved. When the dust settled and the final whistle blew, it was Abbey who emerged victorious and lifted the inaugural Sean Lynk Memorial Trophy. A significant and well-deserved achievement for the Abbey team!

The day was made even more special by the fantastic turnout of supporters, who came to cheer on the talented Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. The energy, encouragement, and community spirit on display throughout the event were truly heartwarming and served as a perfect tribute to Sean’s legacy.
Congratulations to all the schools who participated—you made this a memorable day for everyone involved. And once again, well done to Abbey, our 2025 champions of The Sean Lynk Memorial Trophy!
