Scan to Smile: Alfie's Story

As part of the EFL’s Scan to Smile campaign, we’re proud to recognise Alfie, whose dedication to supporting grassroots football in his local community has made a real difference.

Alfie has been giving up his evenings and weekends to support Blidworth and Bilsthorpe Bengals, helping to refurbish their clubhouse, from knocking down walls and sanding in preparation for painting, to gardening and improving the surrounding space.

Thanks to this work, the club now has a welcoming environment where children can take part in football locally, helping to bring the game back to Bilsthorpe 

After a challenging year on the pitch, with team changes impacting confidence, Alfie was selected to receive a mascot experience, kindly donated by the Free Kicks Foundation. The opportunity has given him a huge boost and, most importantly, put a smile on his face.
