Our season came to a close this afternoon at Debdale Park Sports Club, where our Post-16 side finished the campaign with an impressive 5–2 win over Port Vale ‘B’ in the EFL CEFA League.
It was a strong way to sign off, with the team taking control of the game in key moments, playing with confidence, and seeing things through professionally in the second half.
Overall, it’s been a season of steady progress for the group. There have been tough moments along the way, but also plenty of growth, with the players developing both individually and as a team as the season has gone on.
Post-16 Lead Coach Mark Lynk shared his thoughts after the game: “I’m really proud of the players and their performance this afternoon, as well as their commitment throughout the match. We were up against a side who were higher in the table, but the lads stepped up, stuck to what we’ve worked on, and got their reward. It’s a great way to finish the season.”
This result also means the Stags finish the season on 18 points from 13 games, with 6 wins and 7 losses across the campaign.
A big well done to all players and staff involved throughout the year, and thank you to Port Vale ‘B’ for today’s fixture played in the right spirit.
We close the season with a positive result, valuable experience gained, and plenty to build on going forward.
