Yesterday, the Heatherley U11 team proudly represented Mansfield Town in the Premier League Primary Stars U11s Regional Finals, going against some of the strongest teams in the region. The tournament was a true showcase of talent, teamwork, and determination, with our players giving it their all across six great games.
We had a fantastic start, as Heatherley kicked off the tournament with an impressive 4-0 victory over Burton Albion. The momentum carried on into the second game, where a well-fought 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday kept spirits high.
Despite a tough loss to Derby County in Game 3 (0-3), the team stayed strong, upping their defence to keep a solid 0-0 draw against Leicester in the following match. As we were going against some strong teams, the loss to Rotherham in the semi-finals was tough, as they showed their strength as a team and were able to secure a 3-0 win. Our final game against Sheffield Wednesday decided our position in the table, but having previously won against them, they managed to edge past us this time with a narrow 0-1 victory, closing out a memorable and competitive day of football.
At the end of the day, Heatherley finished in 4th place out of the 10 teams, a fantastic achievement. Our team displayed some incredible skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, and we were proud to have them represent Mansfield Town and they have done their school proud
